The Design Draftsman is responsible for manufacturing design drawings and providing concept information (internal and external drawings with documentation). Further, they assist in project management and tasks relevant to the Engineering department. Key areas of responsibility

  • Provide concept information and manufacturing design drawings
  • Liaise with clients and workshop staff, when required
  • On-site visits if required: local, interstate and possibly overseas
  • Assist in tasks relevant to the Engineering department: ensure engineering files and records are kept in good order and are up to date (Management of engineering records both hard and electronic filing)
  • Participate in team/department meetings as held from time to time
  • Support and aid the installation staff to expedite project completion

  • Achieving KPI's as set by Engineering Manager
  • Compiling job related documents including User Manuals
  • Provide technical support to Production as required. This may include the documentation of procedures and quality control

  • Drafting of job related drawings for workshop manufacture
  • Maintenance and ongoing development of Pneuvay's library of engineering drawings and technical information relating to our standard products
  • Review and development of designs, process flow diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, etc. for compliance with Standards and ensuring they meet design intent
  • Assisting with the preparation, interpretation and review of calculations, specifications, plans, investigations, systems and equipment including the development of data sheets
  • Reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data by other engineers or by suppliers meeting specifications
  • Developing pre-commissioning and commissioning plans

Industry experience and qualifications

  • Three or more years experience in the manufacturing design industry
  • Experience in Sheetmetal Development using AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor and Vault
  • Have experience writing documentation at the different stages of a project
  • Tertiary qualifications related to Mechanical Engineering is desirable
  • Trade qualification applicable to the manufacturing/design drawings industry is desirable
