After coolers are commonly made to sanitary grade for use in the food processing, dairy processing and pharmaceutical industries.
BFM® flexible connectors are durable, hygienic and transparent that are available in standard lengths or manufactured to fit specific requirements. The transparency is achieved using a clear polyurethane (Seeflex 040E) which is USDA Dairy Equipment approved. BFM® is 3A approved and conforms to FDA, EC and Atex regulations.
When a process has high temperature situations or uses caustic and acidic materials, Teflex (woven polytetrafluoroethylene) can be used instead of Seeflex. In over pressure and potentially explosive situations, flame retardant Kevlar covers that fit over existing connectors can be installed to reduce fire risk.
BFM® spigots come in a range of exact sizes and ensure a perfect fit with the BFM® flexible connectors. They can be used to eliminate imprecise hose-clamp sleeve connections. BFM® spigots are available in T316 and T304 stainless steel and mild steel, and feature the following:
Bin activators, also known as vibratory bin dischargers, are used to ensure powder flow from silos or bins is maintained. The vibration isolation system only vibrates the powder and not the silo or bin, so that material bridging, rat-holing, blocking and segregation is eliminated. Bin activators are made of mild steel, 304 or 316 stainless steel, or special alloy with woven or rubber beaded flexible connections, and have other features such as:
Blowers are extensively used in pneumatic conveying systems. They can operate indoors or outdoors, can be made from 304 and 316 stainless steel, and have features such as:
Additional air treatment systems can be included with blowers. More information on air blowers, fans blowers, pressure blowers and positive displacement blowers we supply.
Butterfly valves are used in light duty powder handling systems such as controlling the flow of materials from silo and hopper outlets or other air control systems. The valve body is made from stainless steel, aluminium or cast iron construction and the valve blade of 304 or 316 stainless steel. Other features include:
There is a wide range of sanitary valves suitable for hygienic powder handling duties in the food processing, dairy processing and pharmaceutical industries.
There are three groups of coupling products used in the pneumatic conveying and powder handling industry.
Compression couplings
Morris compression couplings are used to join pipe and tubing in pneumatic conveying systems, and are easy to install. They are made of stainless steel, galvanised steel or aluminium and can be made to suit pipe and tube sizes from 12 to 1,200 mm (½ to 48 inches). Compression couplings come with static conductive grounding strips and have black and white neoprene or silicone gaskets.
Flexible hoses
PVC and polyurethane hoses of 25 to 400 mm (1 to 8 inches) in diameter are used in vacuum and pneumatic conveying systems. Clamps for hose installation can be included. The flexible hose types include:
Vacuum bends and accessories
There is a wide range of couplings, tubing, fittings, bends, shrink sleeves and accessories for industrial and commercial vacuum systems. Typical applications include wet or dry material clean-up, high-velocity dust collection and special situations. Vacuum bends have outer diameters that vary in size from 50 to 300mm (2-1/8 to 12 inches) and made from 11 to 16 gauge aluminium, stainless steel, carbon and galvanised steel.
More information on compression pipe and tube coupling joints we supply.
Diverters are specifically used in the routing of powders and pellets within a pneumatic conveying system. To ensure smooth flow of material, they are completely sealed when fitted and designed not to present any obstructions. Diverters include features such as:
They are commonly used in chemical, pharmaceutical, plastic and food processing industries and made to sanitary grade. More information on diverters we supply.
Dust filter elements are often customised to meet factors such as cost, level of dryness and level of separation of a specific dust filtration situation. They are made from non-woven or needle felts in white polyester or polypropylene. Any metal parts are made from stainless steel, and gaskets are made of materials that are sanitation graded.
Filter bags are available in a range of materials and a variety of collar ring sizes and types to cover most existing bag vessels. They include dust collector bags, filter belts, filter cartridges, drum cloths and filter press cloths.
More information on dust collectors filters, cartridges and bags we supply.
Many forms of exhausters are used in pneumatic conveying and certain air handling systems. They are also known as vacuum pumps and can operate indoors or outdoors, be made from 304 and 316 stainless steel and have features such as:
Additional air treatment systems can be included with exhausters.
Flexible silos are for indoor use and are made from a light-weight galvanised frame and Trevira fabric. Trevira is made of non-toxic fibres and is extremely durable and tough. The fabric is dust proof but permeable to the air, to avoid any product agglomeration that may result from condensation. Flexible silos are portable and easily assembled and suitable for most powder and granules indoor storage, especially in food processing plants.
Fluidisers are essential in maintaining efficient pneumatic conveying and are used in a range of sizes, temperatures and pressures. Through aeration, hopper wall vibration and a tight seal, fluidisers allow the uniform flow and discharge of dry bulk materials. They are durable and prevent bridging, rat holing and compacting in storage silos, dust collectors and bins. There are varying combinations of stems, fittings and airlines that can be used to produce a fluidiser suitable for any specific system.
Grinding is a common process in the powder handling industry and is generally used to make a specific size of particle. However, grinding is sometimes used to increase the material surface area for the efficacy of chemical reactions. The consistency of the grind and the durability of the material are critical aspects of the grinding process. The UM Series grinders are made from mild or stainless steel, conform to 94/9/EU regulations, and have features that include:
UM Series grinders are an economical alternative to conventional grinding systems as they do not need auxiliary equipment such as explosion valves, ventilators and external filter systems.
Level indicators systems provide switching and continuous level monitoring and are fitted to meet specific requirements. Monitor Technologies provide cost-effective level measurement systems that include:
Load cells are used in high capacity hoppers, tanks and silos and are essential where there is a weighing process. There is a broad selection of load cells suitable for many hostile environments and heavy duty situations. Load cells are designed for long life and stability and include the following features:
Loading spouts are used to load dry dusty products into enclosed or open trucks. They are developed and manufactured by Midwest International (https://midwestmagic.com/) and include:
Magnetic separators removes metal particles less than 30 micrometers in size from granules and powders used in the food, chemical and other industries. They are designed using state-of-the-art technology to provide high separation yields and have a compact layout so minimal space for installation is needed. Other features include:
In powder handling systems there is sometimes a need to mechanical convey granules and powders.
All mechanical conveyors can be designed to be sanitary grade for use in the food, dairy and pharmaceutical industries.
Rotary sifters are used for classifying, scalping or de-lumping of powders or granules. They are constructed in 304 and 316 stainless steel and can be made for sanitary grade use in the food, dairy and pharmaceutical industries. Rotary sifters have a wide variety of additional options and accessories, and include features such as:
Rotary valves in pneumatic conveying and powder handling systems are used to regulate the flow of air through attached pipes. These rotary valves are generally heavy duty and available in stainless steel, mild steel or aluminium. They include features such as:
More information on rotary valves we supply.
Sight glasses are a clear section used to observe material flowing through pneumatic or vacuum conveying lines. They come in a wide range of sizes with either aluminium or steel ends. Other design features include:
Vacuum pumps are highly efficient and economical compared to conventional pumps. The best quality vacuum pumps used in pneumatic conveying and powder handling systems are German engineered and have the following features:
Vibrating sifters are circular sifters use a gyratory vibration pattern with a centre inlet to a perimeter discharge. These are made from stainless steel and can be designed to be sanitary grade for use in the food, dairy and pharmaceutical industries. Vibrating sifters come with the following features:
Volumetric feeders use an auger or screw conveyor running at a constant speed to discharge granules or powder from a storage hoppers at a consistent rate. They accurately and uniformly in-feed materials for powder handling systems and are made from stainless steel or mild steel. The variable conditioning mechanism and rotating speed can be tailored to suit the specific situation to minimise degradation or material agitation.
