FIVE MAJOR SAVINGS AND BENEFITS OF A DUSTLESS LOADING SPOUT
Thursday, October 26, 2017
Dustless loading spout systems are an important element in meeting the governmental safety, health and environmental requirements. In including this into your system, you reduce site emissions that are harmful to your employees and the surrounding neighborhood.
In this article, we showcase the dust suppression hopper (DSH) system, which is a widely acclaimed innovation in minimising dust during your production.
Dustless loading spout system: simple yet very effective
With no utilities and internal moving parts, the dustless loading spout system offers an amazing way to suppress dust in your operation. It has four major parts namely the hopper, the inlet, the outlet and the valve. All of which can easily be installed to suit your needs.
Introducing the dustless loading spout system that can save you money
It is best used for bulk loading of stock foods, meals, pellets, fertilisers, barley, limes, salt, sand, gravel, and wheat. The table below shows if your dry goods have been tested and trialled to deliver the dust suppression results you wanted.
Applicable products for transfer via the dustless loading spout system
Its Positional Feed Control (PFC) model has a computerised discharge rate control system for products with different specific gravities. This allows you to load-out various materials on the same conveyor system. Thus, a faster and cleaner truck, ship, and railcar loading.

Dustless loading spout made
from durable, clean
and hygienic materials
This dustless loading spout is made from either:
Polyethylene and nylon rotational moulded hoppers
Steel and 304 stainless steel for abrasive and warm products
316 stainless steel for corrosive and food grade materials and corrosive materials
Other types of steel such as mild steel, electro galvanised, hardox, or corten
Our representatives, including Pneuvay Engineering, analyses your requirements and existing loading facilities so you'll be provided with the best reduction solution for your environment. As needed, we customise these dust suppression hopper systems to include features such as dust socks (with or without covers), steel or fabric filter covers, and custom-made springs and frames.

Dustless loading spout system
reduces cleaning and
dust disposal costs
One of the reasons for the high demand for the dustless loading spout systems around the globe, especially in New Zealand and Australia, is the reduced costs it gives to your operation. This includes:
Dust loading spout system reduces clean up costs
Two hours of clean-up for one operator is needed for a daily discharge operation. Given an hourly rate of $19 per hour and weekday operation, this will equate to $9,880 per year.
The use of a dust suppression reduces the amount of cleaning effort by 85%. This is equivalent to an annual saving of $8398.
Dustless loading spout savings to business owners
Dust loading spout system decreases overall product loss
Increased product loss is another problem for many industries, especially for potash manufacturers. In this operation, 35,000 tpa of product that has an estimated sale price of $570 is lost. The dust suppression hopper system reduces this loss from 0.1% to 0.05 which yields to an annualised saving of $9,975.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Planning have strict measures on dust emission standards. For the mining industry alone, a mine personnel is allowed to shut down production on site if he judges that the dust levels are too high for work to continue safely.
Similar measures are done in other industries. Thus, it is absolutely necessary for companies to reduce dust in their workplace. Unless they are prepared to pay for fugitive dust emission penalties.
How does the dustless loading spout system solve this?
An operator handling product in 26 tonne loads estimates that each load contains 50 kg of fugitive dusts. 10 trucks are loaded each day, for five days a week, for 48 weeks of the year. In the course of the year the total amount of fugitive dust potentially lost is therefore 120 tonnes. The cost of the product is $190 per tonne so if dustless loading spout system reduces this figure by 90% that equates to an annual saving of $20,520.

Dustless loading spout system results to reduced storage expense and product shrinkage
With lesser air in your transfer and storage facility, more products can easily be stored into your bins. These increases your capacity to deliver products with very minimal product loss. That equates to increased product for sale and better profit gain.
The image below shows the science behind the dustless loading spout system:
The science behind the dustless loading spout system
As shown in the image above, a direct feed from the conveyor belt produces particle break-away at the edge of the feed which results to high volume of dust. During this process, high quantity of product is lost.
With the dustless loading spout system, there is no dust generation on impact as radial flow occurs away from the impact point. The science rests on how it manages to converge the powder stream into a thin rapid line.
